  • Portable fencing for dogs.

Some of you know I lost my 12 year old Emma (GSD) to cancer a week ago. It was hard on me, but I am moving on. In a few months I hope to pick up a male red field bread golden retriever. Probably near the time of the Colorado Rally as I will be close by the breeder who is on the front range.

At the various rally's and elsewhere I have seen portable fencing used to contain dogs. Can folks recommend a suitable brand and height. There is a huge selection out there with mixed reviews. I need something compact and portable. I would probably carry it in the truck bed.

    Thanks for any help

Hi Keith. So sorry about your loss.

We use two sets of these for our two Brittanys. They work really well for us. I'd recommend you buy a travel case for each set too.

      Thanks Jim
I appreciate the recommendation. How has it held the up for you and are the easy to set up?

As always you love spending my money..... wait... I believe someone else is the champion of spending yours. I believe a crown is deserved.here. I think Ginnie is #1 on spending everyone's money... The look on your face when you mentioned she looked at that Solitude said it all.. I new your were doomed to the SWMBO curse. Then I saw the glimmer in your eyes on the upcoming modification .

      Thanks for your thoughts.

I am going back 50 years and getting the best (first) dog I ever had., My first golden was red field golden and named Schotzi ( if I have spelled it right it means love in German). She was the smartest dog I ever had. She sure kept me on my toes.. I could throw a rock in the river and she would dive and retrieve it and beg me to throw it again.

Now I need to get to work prepping the trailer and doing the spring maintenance. - once the garden is planted.

Yoda - They are VERY easy to set up. Just set two panels side by side, and slip the pole into the slots. You can configure them in any shape you'd like. We've used them for a couple of years and they are holding up well.

Jim - its says for Indore use but the site https://fxw.life/ does say it can go outdoors. Did you get this model as it is steak free and can be used on any flat surface? Also do you know it the 32" can be used with the 24" panels for along the trailer?

          Thanks

We only use it outdoors. It's been rained on, and no rust at all. I don't know if two sizes can be joined together, but I'm sure you could zip tie them if the poles won't work.

It looks like it is on sale at FWX site https://fxw.life/products/homeplus-d...42781716938933 This is the same number of panels and gates if I got two of these https://fxw.life/products/homeplus-d...42781716840629
Is this storage bag worth it?
              https://fxw.life/products/storage-ba...42778351075509
Looks like I would need two.

Last question is 32" high enough. Of course when he is bigger I can tie him on a long leed in the pen. Hopefully by the time he can clime out I will have him trained not to..

              Thanks

Yoda I agree with everything TucsonJim said above.
If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, we purchased 3 sets of (8) 32" and 2 sets of (8) 24" for our 2 dogs.
The 24" go along the side of the TT, and the taller on the outside of the site.
The connecting tubes don't mesh between to 32" and the 24", but we just use a pin (stake) at those intersections, and a small bungee at the top to keep the corner together.
They are fantastic. We tried to cheap out and not purchase the bags. After our first trip we ordered the bags. Worth every dime for the fence and the bags!
This pic is where we're currently set up.
The black boy at the bottom is a 100lb Golden Doodle, and his back is about 24" - 26" tall. He's never attempted to jump the fence, but probably could if he knew....🤫

Fantastic! I hope you like them as much as we do. When we bought our TT 13 months ago, our pups were just under a year old, and my S.O. researched the fencing because she wasn't having her pups on a lead outside, and we are outside 99% of non-sleeping hours.

Yoda This is going to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of left field. We ended up with two complete invisible fence systems. I can set the wire roll down, pull the wire to my desired perimeter, hook it to the controller, and mark their perimeter. I also have training collars and in a short amount of time they know the boundaries. They have trained so well, that they haven't had their collars on for months but still stop and sit if we go outside of the boundary.

I actually have a good training collar. I had to have it with my GSD to control barking and wandering off .It has three tones and 5 shock levels (if I remember correctly that you can intermix or just tone alone. Shock is the ultimate last resort. I think it is supposed to have a 1 mile range. I am hoping I don need ti use it.

I might look into you invisible fence idea. Could come in handy
