I was instructed by GD customer service that I could use alcohol to try and get the goo off the strips but we both agreed that may damage the strip lights, which are currently working fine. I’m going to try and clean the area right up to the strip lights but will not actually try and clean the light strips.

    Rob,

It looks like the tubing that the LED strip is imbedded in has melted away. Hard to tell in the pics where there is some reflection (no pun). LED lights have drivers that operate them which may have malfunctioned where they overheated. Below is an example of what is on our Imagine. The awning uses a much thinner strip.

Personally I think your goo is the silicone from the top of the lights. Notice how all of it is missing and how the smear along the interface to the cap is "uniform" up to the drips also note that there appears to be no cap on the lights. Something killed the protective layer on the lights.

https://www.granddesignrv.com/owner-...s/detail/49615 or https://www.granddesignrv.com/owner-...s/detail/34410 I think is the light strip. Hard to see in the parts picture, and Howard's link with pictures shows after the fact also, but not as bad as yours. Note the second picture here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1 you can see the silicone D shaped cap that is missing from yours.

If this issue is only on one side could you post a close up of the other side?

The last photos I posted, the first two are non door side and the third photo is door side. The goo is equally on both from top to bottom.

I will try and get some better photos tomorrow. Thanks
