We purchased a 2020 Transcend 28MKS and was told by the dealership that Grand Design told them that you are not suppose to wax the exterior. Has anyone else been told this?

"The aluminum exterior has a baked-on, painted finish designed to last for many years. Periodic maintenance is necessary to keep the appearance looking good.
There is an increased chance of damage to the exterior finish, the longer a foreign substance remains on the surface. Frequent washing and waxing is the best way to protect your RV from this damage."
Your dealer needs to go to re-education camp... LOL.
Seriously, I'd wax it 2-3 times a year with a good quality wax.

I've never heard of this where maybe they were referring to not using an abrasive cleaner wax? We all wax our rigs whether its by hand or while using a wash and wax product.

I'd like to hear from Megan on this. I've heard, and yet to be confirmed, that the Transcend .030 skin is somewhat more porous than the .024 skin commonly used by other manufacturers. This porosity could lead to wax build up in the pores. True or False?Scott M. Barlag, RV Product Specialist, NW Indiana

Megan won't see this unless she's "tagged". Use the @ symbol followed by her forum name, GDRV-Megan. Example: GDRV-Megan

Good afternoon everyone! I apologize for just now seeing this, I am playing catch up on my mentions
The product manager of the Transcend line has recommended using a wash and wax soap, not a paste type of wax. What we typically recommend across the board is a wax that is made by Turtle. They make an all-in-one wash & wax for RVs and boats. This is safe to use in case you do get it on the decals, but please note that you don't want to apply it directly to the decals. Please stay away from Carnauba Wax, as it fades decals.
