  • Roof joint sealant

While at Quartzsite, I was told by the techs that I needed to fill in the sealant between the roof and the cap. Unfortunately, I didn't write down what it was that I was supposed to use. I assume it's some sort of caulk. Anyone know?

Welcome to the forum. The type of roof sealant will be dependent on the year and type of RV you have. Please let me know the model and year and I'll get you the answer.

I will say that most roofs that GDRV has used in the last few years are TPO roofs from Alpha Systems. If you have a 2014/2015 model or a Transcend, then a different material will be needed. if you have the Alpha Systems roof, the correct product is Super Flex self leveling sealant. It can be purchased through Camping World. There are a variety of colors, so make sure you get the correct one.

While I can't be sure of what was recommended, could it have been the product picture I attached?

Definitely the Alpha sealant, aka "SuperFlex", is what you want. Note the sealant comes in self-leveling and non-leveling. For the roof you want the self-leveling.

That's what I'll do, then. Thanks.

The sealant pictured is NOT for TPO roofs. I don't think Dicor even makes a TPO sealant.

I have been using a Dicor recommended by the dealer. It looks like the original sealant. Some of the sealant looks a little ragged. Should I continue to use Dicor, or can I mix and use superflex now?
                thanks,

Yoda, please look at the picture which details what surfaces this sealant can be used on. TPO is one of them.

Understood, but at the Colorado Rally the GD Teck said not to use it.
I got the correct Alpha stuff.

Here are a couple of key points to remember. From the Alpha Systems warranty (Paragraph 5). - "This warranty shall be void if any component in the Alpha Roof Membrane is not an Alpha product."

                      Link to the warranty:
                      https://www.alphallc.us/wp-content/u...r-Warranty.pdf

From the Alpha Systems maintenance sheet - "If additional sealant is needed, you can purchase Super Flex sealant at www.campingworld.com. Please note ONLY SUPER FLEX BRAND SEALANTS CAN COME IN CONTACT WITH THE SUPERFLEX ROOF MEMBRANE."

                      Link to the maintenance sheet:
                      https://www.alphallc.us/wp-content/u...structions.pdf

I won't risk voiding my warranty by using a product that is not recommended by the manufacturer.
