Another modification as a result of the recent visit with Rudy and Andi
Before (Torklift Glowsteps with their optional SafeStep Step Riser Safety Panels).
The SafeStep panels were a pain to keep in place--the velcro kept coming undone. I tried several alternatives but still had issues keeping them attached. In addition, due to the design, debris accumulates where the bottom of a panel meets the top of the corresponding step. The SafeStep panels are very effective to make a pet think the steps are "solid" (if your pup is timid about going up open steps).
The New Addition
After (using 18" Camco RV Step Rugs--note the "glow" strips are still exposed with the 18" rugs)
My two pups (a Poodle and a Pomeranian) were hesitant at first and tried to use the exposed metal side of the step (where the rug didn't cover) but after two trips they decided the rug was fine and they now go up and down with no issues. The DW said the SafeSteps could be used with these rugs by adding grommets to the panels and then connecting them using the hook.)
