So I went to a Grand Design dealer close to where I park my unit (not where I purchased it), and they told me to just use the Dicor self-leveling product and not to believe everything I read on forums. I had no choice with days of rain coming, and at least for now I only had to apply on top of either old sealant or the black tape at the rear of the unit. Still, interesting (and confusing).Steven L

So we just purchased a 23 Imagine XLS 21BHE. First thing I did this week was take out the cheap vents and install better maxx air vents. I did my best to scrape off existing butyl tape and sealant, but it was impossible to get it all off. Once I installed new fans, I went over everything heavy with Dicor because that’s what I’ve always used. Really wish I’d read this forum first. I did cover some of the existing sealant with dicor. But once the dicor dried it was very puffy and marshmallow like. Almost like there was air bubbles in it. That’s what lead me to searching this forum. NoW I’m not sure what to do. Do I trust that dicor will work or try to scrape it off (again I’ll never get it all off) and re-apply the alpha product. Have I already toasted my roof? I was trying to be extra careful to not cause leaks. Never ever thought I couldn’t use dicor. Anyone have advice here?2023 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE

If Dicor states it can be used on TPO that should be ok, but to put over Alpha brand caulk? I would just watch it and monitor if it comes loose and not be concerned as long as it remains intact. Many manufacturers will recommend their brand simply because that's what they developed and tested on their roof material.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. Yes I took off as much of the existing sealant as possible, but going any further and I definitely would have torn the membrane. It was not coming off. Going over top of what was left seemed like the better decision. Maybe it wasn't. I usually research the crap out of everything before I do stuff like this, but like I said, Dicor has always been my go to and I didn't even think about it. Sigh.Last edited by CasadeMike; 08-30-2022, 11:46 AM.2023 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE

For GDRVs, that means an Alpha product. Camping World sells Alpha products branded as Alpha and another as SuperFlex (same product).

I only use lap sealant that specifically lists Alpha on the tube.
