wife wants the black smoke ones, may have to get white being the black are all sold out
Spray paint the inside lightly with black paint to cause a "smoke" effect. My neighbor did this to the actual vent lids on his RV years ago. The outside will still be white but will not as much light in.

I've done tests with an insulator on the inside--a tremendous amount of heat builds up quickly. I'd be cautious about adding a "vent pillow" to the inside.
Forum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, we have nothing to gain should you choose to purchase a product or engage a service we discuss on this forum.

Thanks Howard . . . I was looking for that original thread when you linked it here .
We were also considering the insulated pillows when you originally posted this, but based on your testing, decided that this would not be a good idea.
howsonDennis66 The white covers do let a lot of light in without the heat generated without them. I use the insulators in conjunction with the covers to help keep heat out / cold in during the summer and opposite during winter. Also foil up for heat out, down for heat in.
Howard, I would be interested in your original test with the foil side up vs down.

Cate&Rob Rob, Its over. I thought the dealer was going to do a R&R but it's completely over.
When you get a chance, could you get further info on this product from your dealer. A source name maybe?
I have a flange crack that has put replacing this dome on my list of things to do. A cover to go over whats there could be an easier solution.
That's a lot of size choices! (And they ship to Canada . . . an important consideration for some of us )
We like the idea of both a clear dome for lots of light when the weather is reasonable and a tinted dome when the weather gets hot. Now, I am thinking about two domes . . . a clear one sealed to the roof and a tinted one that nests over the first. Ideally, the second one would be held in place with some sort of clips and could be raised slightly above the first for air flow between them. This would also provide UV protection for the dome sealed to the roof. (We would not travel with the second dome in place)
