  • 2021 24 MPR - Ladder screws ripping out

I've had the rig for 3 months. We've done (3) two-week trips in it so far. I use the ladder to get on the roof and clear the slide-out before packing up the site. Last week I climbed up, and the screws started ripping out of the side. I'm a pretty slender guy at 170 pounds so I'm a little disappointed to say the least. What's the best way to repair?

You may need to go up 1 screw size. If they are #8 go to #10. Put silicone in the hole before putting the screw in BY HAND. Silicone helps with leak prevention, Hand Install prevents stripping the wood formed threads.

Agree with everything Llawles2 says. all 3 of our trailers that had ladders required a screw upgrade from the stock size mostly due to overtorquing during the install. The dab of silicone is vital since most of the sealants I have seen used from the factories are inadequate.
