  • Roof Vent Replacement - Which part is which? Imagine XLS 22MLE

I stepped on my roof vent and cracked the plastic. Need to replace, but there are two different vents on my unit. One over the sink and one in the bathroom. I need to replace the one over the sink.

In the parts lookup, I found two very similar looking parts, so I'm not sure which one to order. Can someone help? Here are the two part numbers and descriptions.

Doug -- first, welcome to the forum. I suspect you already found the welcome letter (good job on the signature line!).

All of the vents are in 14.25" x 14.25" openings, so either will work but why order the entire fan for the cover?

If I may suggest, now is a great time to upgrade to a Maxxair or something similar. A far superior fan than what comes stock. There are multiple configurations depending on your needs and wants (wireless remote controls, integrated rain cover, etc).

This is a related thread if interested: https://gdrvowners.com/forum/exterio...s-with-maxxair

If you look up at the vent with the cracked cover from the inside, you'll most likely see a label. For example, here is the one on my bathroom fan.

This shows mine is a Ventline model V2094.

Next, I went to Amazon and ordered a Vent Line Part Number BVD0449-A03 cover. The price was $38.31. Once you know the model number, it's pretty easy to identify the correct cover. If you find the model number, but can't nail down the cover part number, let me know and I'll give you a hand.

Thanks Howard! I'll check out the Maxxair. Looks like it's a great upgrade.

BTW, the dealer couldn't really help me and sent me off to the internet to investigate/purchase/install. Kinda strange that they didn't know or really want to help. Perhaps it was just a new guy who didn't have enough experience...

          Thanks Jim,

That link to Amazon is great if I just want to replace the broken plastic lid. Looks like exactly the same part. I'm probably going to upgrade to Maxxair per Howard's recommendation. Still pondering.

If I do replace the whole thing, do you know what type of sealant to use on the roof?

When adding/replacing my fans I used butyl tape on the underside to the fan (to help it seal against the roof preventing water into the holes you will or have been made in the roof). THe lap sealant I used is Alpha self-leveling lap sealant. Per Grand Designs this is the correct sealant for TPO membrane.

I have 2 Maxxair fans and really like them. I have the fans with remote controls which makes it super easy to manage the fan. 5 out of 5 stars from me

Edit: I hate the Alpha self-leveling lap sealant. The stuff is messy, messy, messy. But, it does work.
