  • Rear exterior led lights

We recently purchased a 2022 390rkr solitude. On the left and right rear side of camper, there are 2 led strip lights. Anyone know what they are for or how to turn them on? Thought they were running lights but they don’t come on when plugged into truck. Is there a light switch? We have tried everything and can’t seem to understand what they are for.

It's not very often we get stumped, but this is a new one! Welcome to the forum. It will be interesting to see what they are for, and where the switch is hiding.

The (unlabelled) switch for various exterior lights often resides on the water valve panel . . . but (like Jim) I have never heard of these rear lights. Could you post a picture?

If they are vertical they should be the tail lights, they also should have the reverse lights.

Since these lights are on the sides of the trailer, they are not likely tail lights. Marker lights is the only thing that makes sense. You might try contacting Grand Design Customer Service (perhaps send them the picture) and ask them . . .

All my side marker lights work with the exception of those.

This is really curious . . . the odds of lights on opposite sides of the trailer being out at the same time seems remote. It is possible that the power feed comes to one and then across to the other. You could pull the lights and look for a loose connection.

I thought about that but with it being brand new, didn’t want to start pulling things apart just yet. I really thought it was a fancy side marker but when it didn’t work when plugged into truck, I thought it might be rigged to a switch or something for out side lightning when settting up in dark. I will call tomorrow and give follow up.

Any chance they come on when you turn on your awning light?

Tried that. They don’t come on with awning light or front cap light.

Thoughts: 1: light switch in the interior electrical panel. My 21G had an unlabeled light switch...it turned on the LED lights above the fuel station. 2: Do they turn on when in REVERSE?

I wager they come on with the reverse lights - to help when backing in when dark.

If the lenses are clear and the LED's inside the lamp are also clear my guess would be some sort of a work/scene light for loading, I think finding the switch will be a head slapper
If they are red...... all bets are off

Just to close out this discussion . . . the lights in question are white back-up lights wired to the 7th pin in the connection cord to the truck. They should come on when the truck is put into reverse. Thanks to Country Campers Brian for confirming this at the recent National Rally.
