It's a vinyl like product. It's almost like vinyl contact paper. When I needed to do a couple of touch ups, I went to Lowes and got all the brown paint chips I could find. Then, I used the chips to match to the paper. The paint repairs I did are almost unnoticeable.

I believe the wood grain applied to the interior of the units is a thermo foil type overlay. They have been used in the wood working industry for years. Typically they are used to hide MDF or a lesser priced solid wood making it look like a much more expensive piece of wood.
