  • Broken Furrion rear camera mount

    Hi all,
I removed the factory Furrion rear camera mount to install a different brand.
The mount has never been used.

All four mounting holes of the factory mount showed signs stress cracks from over torquing.
I get it that the factory workers just run the screws in until the driver starts chattering.
But the over torquing and the rotational force of an installed camera could lead to the failure of the plastic and leaving your camera dangling.

    Anybody else noticed this?
I did send GD Cust Service and email with the pictures.

Word to the wise...ya may want to check your Furrion camera mount.

    Steve

That mount is not used when the Furrion camera is installed, it comes with its own housing the mount from the factory is a blank to cover the wiring. This however does not excuse the over torquing of the fasteners which is found more places than this.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you. Brian is correct. The mount is a dummy if the Furrion camera is installed.

Maybe I should have mentioned that the coach was prewired for two Furrion cameras: rear and garage.
There were four separate tiny screws that secured the cover which hid the pre-installed wires.

From what I can see...If I were to install a Furrion camera, all I needed to do was remove four small screws and it should have been plug-n-play.

Both of my mounts looked just like this one:

          Update.
          GD returned my email.
They offered to reimburse me for a replacement mount, which I did not need.
GD said they would pass the info on to the production team.

Hope the info helps anyone who is installing a rear camera on a pre-wired coach.
