You can also use it to download a copy of the current settings. This allows you to store a copy of the current configuration just in case you have a future issue and you want to restore it back to a point in time. When I received my trailer, two lights were backwards, it had an extra black tank, and the fuse size setting for the main slide was incorrect (5A). Once I corrected all of those, I saved a copy of the settings to USB so I had a backup copy. You can restore them from USB if ever needed.

Assumption is GD just loads the configuration for each trailer from USB during initial setup. It would save them a lot of time.
