  • Jensen Radio/Bluetooth/DVD Problems

We have a 2020 Imagine 21BHE, purchased in December '19. We have a Jensen JWM40 radio/bluetooth/dvd player. We've had some issues with bluetooth connection and also it just working period. I've had to reset the breaker to get it to re-set and function properly. Has anyone had issues with this? Does anyone upgrade their radio? Its not a blue ray player, most of our dvd's are blue ray now. I haven't researched this yet to see if there are other options.

    Caution: mini-rant ahead.

The Furrion in my trailer (similar to the Jensen) is nothing more than a clock at this point. The bluetooth is worthless. Radio reception is spotty. I did play a DVD (once) and it actually worked. I was surprised to be honest!

The "entertainment center" is another item (along with the mattress) GD could skip installing. I hate paying for stuff I will have to replace. Upgrading, to possibly even a miniPC/Home Theater setup, is a future project.

      Mini-rant #2 . . .

Interesting topic . Everyone's experience seems to be different on this. We wrestled with our OEM Furrion sound system. Lots of random problems. Furrion was not much help, although I heard stories of multiple replacement units for other owners. Ironically (compared to Howard's observations) the Furion clock was one of the first things to quit completely. Had some difficulty finding a replacement unit to fit the large "double DIN" opening previously occupied by the Furion. Settled on a Jensen M60A. It has bluetooth and DVD capabilities that we have never used. We have a Sirius receiver plugged into the Aux input and this runs many hours every day without problems. The previous Furion could never handle this input. We had to use FM broadcast from the Sirius.

Back to the OP's question . . . there are lots of aftermarket products at reasonable prices that will provide whatever you need. Start with the physical size of the opening that you need to fill.

        Howard & Rob,

Well this confirms what I was thinking that the radios aren't real good. I did a google search last night and read a lot of the same thing, but not really any great solutions, other then looking for a car stereo that will fit and work with the speakers. I'll start looking around and see what I can find. If I find any great solution I'll be sure to post it.

        Thanks,

        Dave

Furrion is attempting to replace the traditional suppliers of cook tops , entertainment centers , electric fireplaces etc. used in RVs in north america . These are mainly Furrion branded Off shore stuff built to the lowest price point . Most of these items are built for looks , but the so called Entertainment center is a joke . It would be nice to have a real audio video option .

A Furrion rep has personally told me that they build their components, tv/radio/cook appliances/fireplaces, to withstand the rigors of towing and extreme temperature/humidity fluctuations. This is the information I share with my RV customers.

              Hi Dave,

The most difficult thing to find in a replacement sound system is 3 speaker channels. Most of the automotive alternatives only have 2. (front and rear). Needing 3 separate speaker areas is what led me to the Jensen M60A

Three? My Furrion DV3300 has two channels, one for inside and one for outside speakers. Where is the third channel piped to in your 303?

My original Furion and and replacement Jensen have 3 "zones". These are wired A) main area, B) bedroom and C) outside.

I'm no stereo expert, but the way it sounds I could look for a car stereo with 2 zones and it would work in our Imagine. I would guess that car stereos have two zones as well (front and back)? The Imagine xls 21BHE has two zones (inside & out). I emailed our sales rep where we purchased the trailer to see if he's heard of any great ideas for this issue.

Howard, thanks for the wiring diagram, that will be helpful.

Any 12 volt car type stereo will work.

There are very few, if any, built in Blu Ray 12 volt systems.

A quick Google search produced a number of stand alone ones, but not integrated with the radio.
