The stove top...bounced off the “oven”. Seems ridiculous I know. But this unit is possessed.

Do you mean the stove top GRATES, or the entire stove top? Yikes!

Sorry, no experience with how these are supposed to be attached but it seems that yours wasn't. Hopefully someone who has installed / removed one will jump in. Good luck.

There are several different stove grate/cover/top versions. If you can provide more information on year and model or a picture of what you have, we might be able to help.
