  • 2020 Reflection 337RLS Side Front Marker Light Wiring

Hi All ... this weekend we started to replace side front marker lights with a marker/camera but only got as far as removing cover & screws from OEM marker light. Pulled out on light bracket to expose wiring and could only get about 1/2 inch (at the most) of slack, not enough for us to work with. Questions:

    - Has any one else encountered this issue and if so, how did you resolve it?
    - Is there bundled/tied wire hidden in the nose and a way to access it?

Talked with GD Customer Service and their response was solder extension to wires or have dealer install.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've never dealt with this exact scenario, but for other projects in similar situations I've done the soldiering approach suggested by Grand Design, or even a butt splice. Either that or you get out your wire stretcher, but that's only if your the new electrician onsite . All kidding aside, my assumption would be there wouldn't be much of a bundle for extra slack, since that would cost more materials. However, you maybe able to open up the panel behind the nose and trace the wire to an existing junction, and replace that leg.

Would these work? Heat shrink Butt connectors?

Yes...if you have the proper crimper and a good heat gun. I've used a lot of the yellow, blue and red ("large" to "small" wires, respectively). Add an heat shrink as an extra layer of protection and you'll have a solid extension if replacing the wire (where it originates) is not a possibility.

Keith ( Yoda ) documented his search for a good crimper if you're looking for the tool: https://gdrvowners.com/forum/operati...ailer-tool-box

Skip the insulated and heat shrink connectors. I went with solid connectors and glue heat shrink with a set of Klein non insulated crimpers.

            Crimpers https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
            Connectors (pick size) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
            Heat Shrink https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When in doubt I solder the seamless connectors, then crimp to ensure its there, and heat shrink. My stuff never pulls apart.....
