  • Installing TV in bedroom on 22RBE

I'm getting ready to install a 32" TV in the 22RBE bedroom and using a magnet I determined exactly where the metal support plate is. I've been told that this support plate is expanded metal. Has anyone installed a TV mount with this expanded metal plate and what type of screws (hardware) were used, and the screw length.

    Thanks in advance

I have installed a TV mount secured to the metal backing on the interior panelling. The best attachment method is a coarse thread "sheet metal" screw of as large a gauge as will fit through the bracket hole (usually #12 or #10) and about 1" long. The screw needs to penetrate the metal backing past the tapered tip of the screw but not be long enough to reach the outer skin of the wall. Drill a small pilot hole to get the screw tip started, but let the screw threads expand the hole for the best retention. (When drilling the pilot hole, remember that the wall is only about 1 1/2" thick and penetrate only the inner wall.)
