  • Good Waterproof Marine Electrical Crimp Terminal Kits

OK this may be a rehash of parts of previous posts, but I need a bit of help understanding what is good - I just need it to work the first time.

On my Alaska trip I had a side cargo door pop open (my fault for not packing correctly) and I lost 99% of all of my crimp terminals and 50% of my spare battery cable lugs along with a mess of spare bolts and screws and a good storage case. . I had in the past gotten Ancor ring terminals 5 to 25 at a time as size needed dictated along with other Ancor types. I had built up a pretty good spare collection. I am now hoping to find a kit for basically just ring, spade. and butt terminals (heat shrink and waterproof). Ancor prices have goon through the roof and they don't seem to make a kit and hard to find in stock at times.

I found this 500 piece TICONN kit that has good ratings https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...1TGO8S0OG&th=1 and has the typical sizes or ring terminals I have used.

I also found this bulb end crimp terminal kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...MCWPV7PYD&th=1 that cam make water proof connections is you squirt a dab of silicone in them before crimping. Other choices are https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YBKQY5X...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088LRL5GD...2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1

I'm trying to have the basic supplies I might need. I dont need hook terminals or splice connectors, etcThoughts on my choices and the brand? The other brand that keeps popping up is Wirefly or haisstronica in reviews on electrical sites, but I am not finding a ring terminal kit similar to Ticonn.

    Thanks for any guidance

Keith, I have become a fan of the seamless butt connectors since you do not have to pay much attention when crimping to get a good crimp. https://www.amazon.com/AIRIC-Electri...s%2C118&sr=8-3 I also keep heat shrink in my kit. Again seamless so I do not have to pay attention when in tight quarters trying to make a connection that may or may not be critical.

I have a kit similar to the first one you have linked to , 500 pcs, not sure if it is the same brand but they have worked great for me. I am not a fan of the bulb connectors you have listed.

I think I have but will take another look as I have time to order for spring projects.

Keith - Here are the terminal kits I use with very good success:

            https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

            https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I crimp first, then seal the heat shrink with my heat gun.

Yoda I just now finished rewiring and adding new lights on my canoe/kayak trailer. I have this kit for butt connectors and did not have any ring terminals for the ground wires. https://www.amazon.com/Intashi-128PC...ef_=ast_sto_dp My neighbor loaned me the Wirefly kit you linked to. I was using my ratcheting crimper and a heat gun. The heat shrink is thin and easily breaks open compared to the kit I have. I was going to purchase one so I can have all the other connectors but I won’t anymore.

I thought I would update this. Had a few Amazon gift cards and decided to give two brands a try and some heat shrink tubing for extra measure. I just ordered the following
                  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...1?ie=UTF8&th=1
                  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
                  Heat shrink tubing to test
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...1?ie=UTF8&th=1 this is a 4:1 shrink and is larger sizes.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 3:1 and mostly smaller sizes but also some longer lengths

This should replace what I lost and then some.

tortuga West Marine has an excellent selection of Ancor terminals - that's where I got my last ones I lost, but for the price of a couple of 10 piece bags I could get the above. If the Wirefy and TICONN don't work out I will go back to them. For my last Victron project I was able to determine what sizes I needed for the various connections and ordered what I needed with a few spares and the West Marine 5 or 10 packs were handy . These are for future projects and unknown sizing.

                  Keith

On edit I will try and remember to update this as I use them.

This set is really expensive but I have found it makes the BEST water proof wire connections

shueber Nice kit. Probably a bit overkill for most. I use a glued marine heat shrink. I guess for additional sealing and security you could go for liquid electric tape, then heat shrink.

                      https://www.amazon.com/Gardner-Bende...zcF9hdGY&psc=1

I guess a really creative person could even use plastic drinking straws (if you can find them) and a hot glue gun. Just use the milkshake straws; https://www.amazon.com/Smoothie-Colo...zcF9hdGY&psc=1

If hot glue is out, then cheap (ish) 2 part epoxy but get the one with the mixing tips so you can inject it: https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Insta...26&sr=8-9&th=1
