Is there such a thing as a converter that is also an inverter?

Here is a link to a thread here that may be of help. Post 1 has a video by Jomani that will explain the inverter prep and how it interacts with the power center.

This will be very close if not the same as your 280RS.

I want to use the inverter prep and integrated sub-panel capabilities (mine is just like the video). My generator is only 2000w and I don't anticipate getting an inverter more than 2000w. I plan to use the standalone 30a transfer switch because I can locate it immediately adjacent to the prep wiring. I will wire out the alternate 120v power source using 10 awg wire and a box mounted 30 Amp 125-Volt Flanged Inlet Grounding Locking Outlet.

This will allow connection to either of my alternate 120v power sources (inverter/generator) using an adapter cord set.

Thanks everyone! This discussion has helped me greatly.
