  • Light switches stop working randomly

380-FLR Solitude-So the main lights in fron living, kitchen and bedroom randomly won’t turn on or off for various timeframes (usually a few minutes ). Had new switches installed, still doing it. Sometimes, they randomly “turn upside down “ where you have to push it down to turn on and up to turn off 🤔. Any thoughts appreciated!! And Happy New Year!

Your Awning, Ceiling, Living Room and Bedroom lights are powered on (and off) by a OneControl X1.5 circuit board. The manual switches in your coach that seem to turn the lights on and off are actually just a switch input ("signal") to the board telling it to do something. Power switching is done by relays on the board controlled by the board's circuitry.

Given the random nature of the failures and that it affects all of the light circuits, I'd check the following:

    1) Check for securely attached power and ground wires attached to the X1.5 board. Gently wiggle the wires to see if you can duplicate the problem with the lights. CAUTION: If you're not familiar with working around live circuits...hire someone to do these checks!

    2) Check that there is a 75 ohm termination resistor (and ohm it out if you know how) at the beginning and end of the bus circuit.
There should be a terminator on the back of the OCTP, ("One Control Touch Panel") and the other should be on the slide out controller. That controller is under the slide which is all the way aft, street side. I'd even go so far as to unplug the terminators and plug them back in to ensure the CANBUS is terminated correctly.

If neither of those checks finds the issue, consider calling Lippert, the OEM of the circuit card. It may be a fault in the card that they can identify and may replace under warranty. Their contact info is here: https://support.lci1.com/

Finally, as outlined in the Welcome Letter to New Members (found here: https://gdrvowners.com/forum/main-fo...to-new-members ) it's not a good idea to use your email address as your forum name. If you'd like it changed let me or any moderator know and we can change it for you. (The moderators are introduced here: https://gdrvowners.com/forum/main-fo...rum-moderators )

P.S. Please report back if / when the issue is resolved so there's a record of what fixed the issue.

Forum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, we have nothing to gain should you choose to purchase a product or engage a service we discuss on this forum.

Also note that if you turn the lights on or off using the app, the switch will reverse direction. As stated by Howard, the switch is just an input device to the controller, it only detects a state change and does not care if the lights are on or off when the input "call" changes.
