Hi Howard . . . great chart! Just to clarify the column titles . . . column 1 Lead Acid batteries are not usually referred to as "RV" batteries but as either "Starting" or "Deep Cycle". From the numbers in your chart, you are referencing a Lead Acid Deep Cycle battery. The point being that not all Deep Cycle batteries are AGM (column 2) The second link in TucsonJim Jim's post #8 explains these differences very clearly.

Understood. I'm mixing the two based on chemistry and the name that's (sometimes) on the side of the battery. I'll change it to just the chemistry to avoid confusion.

Update: Version 5 uploaded (post 22).

Version 4 that (hopefully) reflects Cate&Rob 's input. (Version 3 was pulled down.)

Just to make an even finer point, both are lead acid. Wet cell lead acid. AGM(absorbed glass mat) lead acid.

            on edit: glass not gas

Very True - For clarity, maybe call the first column "Flooded Lead Acid" or just "Flooded".

Dawned on me while reviewing this (yet again)--the Total Lifetime Useable Watt Hours column does not account for the degradation of a battery's ability to charge to it's fully rated capacity over time.

I point that out because it's not the exact numbers in that row that's important--it's the dramatic difference in the totals (which will hold true even if every variable was accounted for) that's important!

howson consider that aspect to be part of the noted difference in life charge cycles. The gradual shortening of battery life.

I agree. Also 3000 charge cycles for a lithium is on the low side if the lithium is taken care of.

Good point. Charging to 80% and not discharging below 20% can result in over 10000 cycles. However charging to 80% is inconvenient but not going below 20% SOC is rather easy. So moving between 100% - 20% can certainly help and under use the battery will not stay at 100% very long anyway. So this could be a viable strategy to use between convenience and battery longevity.

Also to store lithium at around 50% SOC will increase longevity for those that are interested in how to make them last far beyond advertised cycles.
