Gonna order a 310 GK. It gets real hot where I camp. Should I get 3 A/C units?

Our 2020 310GK-R doesn't have a place to install a third AC. There is no place framed, no AC or control wires, and no way to tie a third unit into the racetrack ducting. A third AC on the 310 is also not an option from the factory. The 310 comes with two 15K Mach units that work well. We've spent the summer in Augusta, GA, and Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Both places have gotten into the mid- to upper-90s with extremely high humidity. The two ACs have done just fine.

In my experience, two A/C units work fine in full sun up to about 105. Above that the internal temps will be 85 or higher. Our rig does have dark full body paint, no slide toppers and no dual pane windows which doesn't help.
We did add RVAirflow foam blocks to both of our air conditioners and one slide topper over the bedroom slide but it hasn't been above 95 since then so I don't know if that makes any difference.
I did see a 3rd A/C unit as a factory option for the 310GK on the Grand Design website for a few days a couple months ago. I haven't seen that option since then. Not sure if that was a mistake or if air conditioning units are in short supply so they dropped it for now. Either way, if you're camping in temps over 105 and a 3rd A/C is available, I'd go for it. I'm considering replacing my kitchen vent with a 3rd A/C unit but that's only because we have a lot in Palm Springs and we'd like to spend more time down there when temps are 105+ (which is all summer long).Brian & Kellie

I think I can share this snip without getting in trouble showing what I'm referencing. All three show they can be tied into the ducting. I left the powered vent, too, as a reference. The front of the trailer is to the right.
Very possible the trailer has been changed and this drawing is wrong. I suggest the OP, haddox01@msn.com, call GD Customer Service to get a no-kidding answer to the question for units coming off the production line today.

My other concern would be weight. I know ACs aren't all that heavy, but CCC is not something the Solitude 310GK is long on. Of course, this could be overcome with the 8K axle option. How did the old song go: "Money, money, money, money..."

It's 108 outside and 79 inside so the RVAirflow system did help lower the inside temperature by roughly 7 or 8 degrees. That doesn't sound like much but it's the difference between being comfortable and wanting to get out of Dodge!
I don't think the bedroom slide topper that I installed recently is accounting for much of the difference because it's small and on the north side of the RV. The slide toppers for the main slides should arrive soon so I should have a better idea of how they affect temps once I get them installed. Just need temps to stay in the 105-110 range for testingLast edited by bertschb; 09-15-2020, 05:54 PM.Brian & Kellie
