  • Metallic Flakes from A/C Vents

Every time we start the A/C we are bombarded with tiny metallic-looking flakes blowing from all the vents. They are tiny and initially look like dust until closer inspection with a magnifying glass.

We have a 2022 21G and have used the unit many times this summer but it never stops spitting the flakes out on each startup. We don't want to be breathing that crap. Could it be the improper installation of the duct work? Or?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Hi Aaron, and welcome to the forum. It's probably construction debris left in the raceways. I'd remove the vents and use a towel or sponge to clean as far as you can reach.

Check the installation to ensure the unit is sealed, too, from the space between the ceiling and roof.

Chad from Changing Lanes has an excellent video on the topic: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gbm8hOyZlrU

Please report back with what you find.
