  • Inexpensive way to empty grey water.

It’s been hard finding full hook up sites lately. So we are booking electric or electric and water only for a week at a time. Looked at getting a blue boy but don’t really want something that big or heavy. We found an inexpensive and lightweight solution to clear grey tanks of 10 gallons at a time to see if it would work out. Bought a Valterra cap with a hose port.

ordered these collapsible water jugs and a 6’ garden hose.

bath house is across our site so we empty in toilet but would be able to take to the dump station. Our black lasts for 6 nights so as long as we are frugal with water we only need to empty 15 from bath and 5 from kitchen.

Just a suggestion: when you're about to dump your black tank fill the gray tanks full and dump them too. Even better, put a cup of Dawn dish soap in the sinks and fill the tanks pretty full a few hours before departure.

Reasoning is that the garden-hose dumping of the grays that you're using as a stopgap will be less turbulent in the tanks and may allow more stuff to stay in them. Full gray tanks, especially if soapy, will get more stuff out to the sewer when they are dumped.
