  • winter in a 25G

Trying to understand what's in place with our 2021 25G for winter travel. I believe the fresh water tank is under the bed. I don't see any tank heater switches so I'm wondering what's keeping the grey & black tanks from freezing in cold weather while we're in the RV or traveling down the road for hours.

To your question, do a search for threads with "Cold" or "Winter" in the title and you'll find a few informative recent threads. Two of them are linked below for your convenience.

Thanks Howard but I'm looking for info specific to this model - 25G. I don't know what cold weather capabilities it has. For example, one thread you pointed me to talks about tank heaters that kick on at 40F. I had a Flagstaff that had tank heater switches. My Momentum 388M didn't. The 25G doesn't. The dealer doesn't know any specifics. There is nothing in the user manual about this topic...it only tells you how to winterize it.

GDRV-Megan -- please see timurray2000's inquiry regarding the cold weather capabilities of his 25G. Can you answer his question?

        Thanks,

timurray2000 the G-Class units do not have 12v tank heaters. The underbelly has thermofoil laminated to it. The entire underbelly is heated by the heat ducts from the furnace.

Megan, this link shows the G-Series TT has heating pads on the tanks:
            https://www.granddesignrv.com/showro...r/construction
"12-volt heat pads on each holding tank"

Can you verify? You said they do not.

If they do, are they powered all the time and run off some kind of thermostat?

THANKS for pointing this out on our website. This is inaccurate and we are working on getting it revised immediately. The statement that I made previously is still true: the G-Class units do not have 12v tank heaters. The underbelly has thermofoil laminated to it. The entire underbelly is heated by the heat ducts from the furnace.

Does that mean you have to leave the propane furnace running while driving down the road in winter?
