  • Water Heater Flush and Brass Check Valve Inspection

When the "soft hose replacement project" was done a brass check valve was installed in the hot water heater. The plastic one hadn't failed--did it for preventative maintenance. One concern was galvanic corrosion due to the dissimilar metals between the tank and valve. Today I pulled the valve out to inspect it (almost six months installed) and it looked fine. No issues at all.

I hadn't flushed the tank since I bought the trailer since I drain it after every trip. Unfortunately that's not a fail-safe strategy, as "white stuff" (calcium?) came out the low point drain.

So I'll be buying a Camco Water Heater Tank Rinse and doing a better job of flushing the heater.

Any other tips on keeping the system clean?
