Wanted to make sure that new tankless water heater owners are aware of the need to descale their heaters periodically to keep their heaters working and to prolong the heaters service life. How often the descaling needs to be performed will depend on water hardness, but should be done at least yearly.
Descaling will require the use of a recirculating pump. The one I use is the Eccotemp EZ-Flush which came as part of a kit (Eccotemp EZ-Flush System Descaler Kit with Pump and Solution, Durable Tankless Water Heater Flushing Kit - - Amazon.com ) with everything that I needed except for 3/4" to 1/2" PVC bushings to downsize the hose couplings to fit the heater's inlet and outlet. I'm not saying this is the best choice out there, it's just the one I selected and I haven't compared it to any others.
The kit comes with a commercial descaling solution which can be reordered, or you can use white vinegar.
