My water heater had been heating with the electric element and for some reason would not. It works on propane.
After troubleshooting switch connections and verifying voltage at various locations I found that a connection came off a terminal on the dc side of the relay that connects power to the heater element. On my WH6GEA model it is behind the black cover, lower right corner accessible from outside.
