  • Slide use when retracted.

Hello all. After some deliberation the wife and I have decided on a GD Reflection 150. We will be between homes for awhile and living full time in the RV for 3-5 months. Where it will be parked has full hookups, but the driver side slide will have to remain closed. Likely going with 280rs. Can dinette/chair slide be used for sitting and eating in a closed position? Some searching here and web has some conflicting info. Hoping someone here can give a more definite answer. TIA

It is not recommended to use the slide out when in, there is no support for the floor. Some have put shims under the floor when the slide is in to be able to use. I would use caution when doing this.

The slide floor lacks support for the inner edge when it is retracted. When it is extended the floor rests on the outer edge of the trailer floor and is supported that way.
Any use while retracted would likely cause damage to the floor.

If you still have doubt (both of the previous responses are spot on) give GD Customer Service a call and consult with them on your plans prior to purchasing the unit. I'm certain GD will state the same as above. Perhaps GD can suggest a mitigation strategy that will not compromise the floor.

Customer Service's info is in the "business card", main page of this forum, right side.

If a dealer / salesman tells you anything different...consider the source.

Go look at one in person and see how far the slide(s) actually extends. You may be able to shift the rv slightly and get the slide open with a bit of creative parking (like watching wear the elect connection box may be if surface mounted).

You may be pleasantly surprised at how far slides DO NOT extend.

Unfortunately, I will only have 1' to 1.5' of room driver side, so slide will have to be closed. If not usable closed may have to re-think things. Appreciate all of the input.
