  • slide out awnings

We want to put a slide out awning on the right side of our 2021 303rsl, but there is an exterior awning attached where it would have to mount. Any suggestions?

No personal experience, just spit balling.

You may be able to attach the track for the topper (the awning that goes over the slide) below the existing track for the awning. Provided that the galvanized sheet metal backer plate in the wall extends far enough below the existing track. A strong magnet will help determine this.

Other concerns would be clearances. With the awning in and the slide in, will there be space between the awning roller and the end brackets of the topper? With the topper out will there be space to extend or retract the awning without the awning roller catching on the topper brackets? The topper brackets will likely extend 6" or so above the top of the slide.

      Good luck with the project.

        John,

The awning is on the outside slide out wall, it is not attached to the RV main wall. The issue mostly is clearance above the awning and the arms that attach the slide cover to the outside wall of the slide, above the awning.

We have a 303 with slide out awnings but it's in storage right now. I plan to be out there this week and can post photos if you don't get the answers you need. I'll follow this thread to see what develops.
