  • Tire upgrade question

I currently have the standard GY ST205/75R15 8ply, D Load range tires that call for a 5.5 rim width. Considering changing to ST225/75R15 10 ply, E Load range that call for a 6.0 Rim width.
Does the 1/2" rim width difference, from a safety standpoint, make this a bad decision or is that a small enough to not make a difference regarding safety? TY

Dave - The specification charts are pretty clear.

The ST205/75R15 can use a 5.0" to 6.5" rim width
But the ST225/75R15 requires a 6.0" to 7.0" rim width.

It may work, but you'd be at risk for sidewall and bead strain issues.

Gotcha, I’m not willing to take the risk. I’m not sure the “juice is worth the squeeze”. Appreciate your response Jim!!
