    Experience with Roadmaster Comfort Ride

On our annual trip between Virginia and Kansas, we go over the same roads with various rough spots. Over the years we've had things vibrate loose including the surround face of the microwave! I was always troubled by the lack of shock absorbers with our 2021 Reflection and finally installed $1600 worth of the Roadmaster Comfort Ride shocks + sliper springs in 2024. Could not be happier. On this year's trip ove the same rough roads, it was obvious that we had less pogo bouncing and a more cushioned ride over bad seams , etc, Highly recommend.

    Best, Chip

Do you think the shocks did most of the ride improvement or the slipper springs ? Im needing to do something to our suspension for the bounce on the pot holes.

Sorry for the late response. The shocks cushion compression and rebound, while the slipper springs create independent axle travel. They sell just a shock package, but recommend the full package. You might ask them for a more technical answer than mine.

Are you still pleased with the ride quality? I'm thinking of doing the same upgrade.

Last year I replaced the stock suspension with the Roadmaster slipper springs and shocks on my trailer. The trailer does ride better, even over the Summo springs I had on the original suspension. The trailer also seems to track better. One of the biggest benefits for me is the springs they use are quite a bit beefier than the OEM, and the spring holes for the shackle are bigger with a large nylon(?) insert, so no greasing, and I doubt the springs will every go flat or break. The insert is bigger than the never-fail ones you can get.

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of spring end and bushing would you?

Unfortunately no, did not take any pics prior to putting them on. Here is a pic of the end, for what it is worth, and the main spring.

Edit: Found this on SuperSteer This is the spring for the 8K axle, I thought the bushing was bigger, but looks like I was wrong. On the Roadmaster website, they call it a "self lubricating" bushing.

I do not have a picture of the spring end and the bushing. I installed the Roadmaster springs and shocks on my trailer last August after breaking the right rear spring hanger despite having the Morryde X-Factor braces at all three positions. Shortly after that, I ordered a spare spring and other spare parts from Roadmaster. I was told they did not sell the bushing by itself, but the spare spring came with a new black polymer bushing that looked a lot like a Never Fail bushing.

I noticed last week that etrailer.com now sells the bushing for Roadmaster lear springs. It is etrailer p/n RM47GR. I ordered two of these bushings from etrailer. They in turn sent the order to Roadmaster I received the two bushings (Roadmaster p/n 220014-00) in a couple of days. The new bushings are white in color. I'm not sure if they are standard crappy nylon bushings or a better material. Since two of them (with shipping) cost $34, I sure hope they are not standard nylon. Fortunately, I have several new Never Fail bushings I can use if I ever need to replace one. I have had decent luck with Never Fail bushings in leaf spring eyes in the past. These bushings are 1.73" long x 0.704" OD x 0.581 ID, so they are the same size as standard bushings. When I get my trailer out of winter storage in a few weeks, I will confirm these bushings fit the spare slipper spring. I am confident the Roadmaster system will be a lot more durable than the OEM system. Unfortunately, I know I can change a leaf spring in a Walmart parking lot in just under 90 minutes. I doubt I will break a Roadmaster spring since it appears to be a stronger part (made in India) than my past springs and because it will be much easier to change if it does break.

I am guessing that the white bushings are either nylon or delrin material, they should be similar to the "never fail" bushings.
