You may want to remove the immobilizer and make sure there is no contact plus an additional gap for flexion. This should provide a safe clearance should the immobilizer come loose.
Thanks for your feedback Jim. Without the immobilizer there still appears to be about 3/4" when looking at the up/down motion. Instead of using the whiz lock nuts that came with the immobilizer with Loctite Red applied per the manufacturer's instructions, I used stainless steel lock washers with stop nuts (nylon inset). Probably overkill but trying to get a nut off with the Loctite Red is not an easy undertaking if I end up moving the carrier back to the 3rd position (farthest away from the back wall). I'm going to keep a close eye on the install during next week's trip.
