  • Uneven tire wear

I have a 2020 Reflection 303RLS and have done about 15k miles. I have 3 tires with expected wear looking quite good and 1, passenger side front, that looks like it is bald on the outer edge. What should I be looking for as cause?

One tire wearing as you describe is an alignment problem usually caused by a bent axle. This is easier to do than you would think, particularly on the front axle, by hitting an obstruction or a big pothole. It could also have come from the factory like this or happened on the delivery trip . . . very difficult to prove one way or the other. A well equipped trailer repair facility (not your RV dealer) usually using Hunter alignment measuring equipment, can confirm the alignment of all four tires. They may offer to bend your axle into alignment (the only way to align a beam axle) and while this is common on heavy trailers and trucks, is often less successful on the thin wall tube axles used on an RV trailer. Compare the cost of the bending repair to the cost of a new axle . . . there won’t likely be much difference.

Thanks Rob. Any thoughts on if this would be covered under warranty for the axle?

It would certainly be worth having the discussion with Grand Design Customer Service. (contact info on the right side of the home page of this forum) For the one tire to be as worn as you describe with the other tires wearing evenly, this alignment problem has been there for a while. A careful inspection of the axle and spindle might discover a manufacturing defect, but most likely this is going to come down to "might have happened during delivery or might have happened after delivery". Only Grand Design and/or LCI/Dexter can decide if they want to be part of resolving this issue. Before you contact them, have available, all the info on the label at the center rear of both axles.
