I would imagine if for no other reason than to save the batteries if you take the batteries out. Or remove them and replace the batteries when you take it out of storage after this thing called Winter.. Similar to how you should change your smoke alarm batteries when you change clocks back.

I just take out the batteries like OurNewEra suggested.

Mine don't have replaceable batteries. I just leave them on. Mine last about 4-5 years without replacement...

I leave my batteries in, and even though they were still working, replaced them after 4 years as I figured they had to be getting low.

Mine is left on the stems with the batteries left in. Since its in a storage lot, we will see how honest folks are there. Last year I was having an occasional drop out on the TPMS which can raise some hairs on the back of your neck the first time this happens. Changed the batteries and still the same.
This past spring, I replace the batteries with Panasonic brand batteries and for whatever reason, I've had no more drop outs.

I have had more than one TireMinder sensor damaged by battery corrosion after sitting for an extended length of time. I have always used the batteries provided by TireMinder through their battery replacement program.

First year for me, but I'm just taking the sensors off the stem and bringing them inside to avoid the freezing temps. Not removing batteries.

                          Rob,

I've not seen that with a lithium battery. Is TireMinder sending you something other than lithium? I moved to these Panasonic batteries and have had no more sudden heart stopping alarms while driving.

Do you have a repeater on the trailer? My last trailer I was having the same problems, and put a repeater on the front of the trailer (in the battery box). No more drop outs, and when I turned the receiver on, it was quicker in displaying the pressure. My last trailer was metal, so that could have contributed, my current is fiberglass, and even though longer, no need for the repeater.
