Charge with Disconnect Off?

Without testing (or observation) it's hard to answer your question.

What I'd do is monitor the Solar Controller's display during hours of darkness. Why at night? Because there's no possibility of solar from the panels powering the controller.

So at night and with the Battery Disconnect ON, look at the front panel of the Solar Controller (it should be on). Now turn the battery disconnect OFF (key will remove)--what happens to the controller's display? If it turns off, the controller is wired through the disconnect. If the Controller stays ON with the battery disconnect's key removed, then the Controller is NOT wired through the disconnect.

It depends on how it was wired as Howard mentioned. From the solar controller trace where the positive wire goes. If direct to the battery, then possibly yes. After reading a lot of posts here who knows how GD actually wired the unit. On mine with the disconnect off (keyed removed) no charging get to the battery.
