  • Bullring Install ('17 F-350)

Minor update on the truck...before our trip to Canada last summer at the last minute I added anchor points along the truck bed. I knew about the Bullring but didn't have the time (and didn't want to pay full price for them). Thanks to Yoda (posting about the Black Friday sale) I got the Bullrings and installed them today.

First, a before and after view. (Really like the look of the Bullring vs the HF Chrome Anchors!)

Only a couple of minor installation notes to pass along.

    1) Even though there are YouTube videos that will warn against removing the Bullring's screws prior to installation, removing them makes installation easier. The instructions that come with the Bullring even show the screws removed! The way the component is constructed the individual pieces won't come apart with the screws removed as there's a bar that keeps everything from coming apart (red arrow).

    2) Oddly, on my '17, there's one spot where the "Bullring" wording is facing toward the front of the truck. It would not "seat" (fit flush) in any other orientation. This one location is the rear back corner near the tailgate on the driver's side. (The pic above is that one oddball orientation.) In all the rest of the openings the Bullring wording faces aft. (I tried each ring oriented in both directions--it will only fit one way.)

    3) When tilting in the device during installation, insert with it tilted toward's the outside of the truck as there's room to manuever the ring once installed. If it's done the opposite way (tilt in toward's the bed) it's almost impossible to get the ring to seat as there's very little "wiggle room". At least that's how it is on my '17 SuperDuty with it's 8' bed. YMMV.

Glad I helped you spend your money - paybacks are great Did you get the slanted (angel towards the bed) or standard model Bull Rings? Great write up

On edit - on some Fords the bed rail cap and the body hole don't match up - you need to remove the rail cap plugs first to check. If you have that situation Bull Ring has an offset model to fit.

Yoda -- the Bullring 4025's that came for my '17 were all longer on the "Bullring" side (the writing), so it seems the OEM was aware of the odd choice by Ford to have a consistently rectangular opening once the rail cap plug is removed.

No, I didn't not go for the slanted version. All six are the standard 4025.
