  • Essential items list for a new owner - Feedback needed

We purchased a new 2021 Imagine 2600RB and will be picking it up next month. I've put together a list of things we'll need to buy to properly equip it and would like feedback. This is our first TT although I grew up family camping in the Great Lakes region as a kid and have done a fair bit of tent camping since then in Colorado, Utah, California and the PNW.

We won't be dry camping initially and I've not included power/solar upgrades since I won't be doing that right away. I left tools and spares for repairs off this list too, will do separate list for those. We're not planning full-time yet but expect to be doing 2-6 weeks trips on an ongoing basis.

My initial list is rough - I'll shop a bit for price and perhaps better models of each of the items. I'm more interested in getting feedback on what we might have missed for getting started.

    Thanks in advance! :-)

    Joe

Sailor_Joe Some people swear by the Equilizer. I like the https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Ox-BXW20...315699&sr=8-13 that i used.howson uses https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-33585...15800&sr=8-1in conjunction with the hitch for easier hookup and unhooking. The equilizer from what I have read uses either a prybar or tongue jack (very easy to overload and burn up) to lift the rear of the TV.

I suggest you get 2 sets of the leveling blocks. Try to keep the stabilizer jacks extension as short as possible as this helps with stability exponentially.

If the camper has a black tank clean out port, you can eliminate the hose cleaner. I dump my black tank first, then rinse it, then grey tank and rinse again. If needed, i use the spray port with the hose and nozzle to rinse it.

I also have a single element 120v hot plate burner that I use for cooking as I can plug that in outside and not have to worry with propane.

Don't forget vent covers: https://www.amazon.com/Camco-40433-R...e%2C201&sr=1-3 if you have more than 1 vent. They also make one for the max flow if its not the one with the built in cover. I prefer the one that looks like a standard vent, then put the extra cover over it for shedding heat. When room permits i add: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Vent cover for maxair https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this style: https://www.amazon.com/Maxxair-00045...omotive&sr=1-1

          Thanks Jlawles.

I'll check out the hitch a bit more.

Regarding the blocks, I had picked out a 10 pack instead of a 4 pack but perhaps more will be better. I'll check that out after the checkout weekend. I can see how keeping the stabilizer jacks as short as possible will be a good practice.

Yes, my camper has a builtin black tank clean out port. It sounds like I can just rely on the method you describe to get the hose clean before stowing it. But for $12 I think I'll get the black hose cleaning adapter as a backup :-) https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Cleanin.../dp/B000RFSARI

Since the camper has a propane quick connect and I already have a Coleman propane stove I'm planning to use that for outside cooking. So a hose is all I need to add.

And yes, I plan to add vent covers. The trailer has 3 vents. I'm planning to upgrade one to a Maxxflow with the auto rain detector closing and put a vent cover on that. I'll start with that and decide if I need vent covers for the non-Maxxflow vents.

          Thanks for the feedback!

          - Joe

Sailor_Joe Phew, what a great list! If you are new to the r.v. thing you might want to pick up some of those things as you go. Stuff will add up in the tongue weight/ cc for your tow vehicle. When we started we had a lot of stuff and discovered that we found things when we sold one of our units that we had never used and had not seen in years. I was hung up at the time about being hundreds of miles off shore and needing every thing imaginable on hand, glad those days are over! We have a 2021 2600 RB and love the layout and storage but do not plan to fill everything up. Good Luck

Instead of the Furrion back up camera take a look at this one. Good reviews and great folks to buy from. https://www.technorv.com/vision-work...nd-camera-kit/ For side to side trailer leveling check out Beach Lane instead of the Anderson. much more durable. Skip the x-chock and consider a Steady Fast system, later. A simple in line cartage water system will be fine too.

                Hi Steven,

I'm glad you found the list useful. I got quite a lot of it from some of the youtube RV channels. We especially found the ones from KYD (Keep Your Daydream) useful. Not sure if it's ok with the gdrv owners forum to give them a plug but you can check out their website and the lists they have in their Amazon store, especially their RV Essentials list on https://www.amazon.com/shop/keepyourdaydream

                  Thanks Yoda!

The backup camera is one that I need to research more so thanks for the info. I don't know what "camera ready" means on our 2600RB and don't know if that means a compatible brand is required. So I listed Furrion as a placeholder. Do you know if GD "camera ready" on a 2600RB just means the rig has a mounting bracket or is there more to it? I'm already skeptical of Furrion given the thermostat in the AC unit issue and because the solar input jack limits it to 10amps in. So I was planning on looking for backup camera alternatives.

I'll check out Beach Lane and Steady Fast.

                  Thanks again!

Camera ready means GD has a mount (Furrion) and power to it. The camera I mentioned has an adapter for the Furrion mount. Power should be tied into the clearance markers, so when you truck lights are on the camera is on. You do not want continuous power tot he camera as it will kill your battery. Speaking of battery. if it is not too late have the dealer install 2.

                      Hi Fly Fish!

I've already read some of your posts and see we have the same set up - F-150 XLT w/ 3.5 EcoBoost and max tow package pullling a 2021 2600RB. How cool is that! Awesome!!! :-) How is the truck working out as your tow vehicle? I'm curious if you've added anything to beef up the suspension or if it's been ok without changes. I may add the AirLife Load Lifter kit, not sure if I'll need it on day one.

Yes, my wife likes your recommendation and has already reminded me that we should just buy as a need comes up, but I wanted to have a comprehensive list to start with. I have a column in the spreadsheet for "buy now" or "wait for later" :-)

And I thought you'd like to know that I found your replies very helpful on the post about the Furrion thermostat temp sensor being in the AC unit (sensor doesn't trigger the furnace to shut off due to not enough air flow into the AC unit). I talked to a GD rep at the dealer and he knew about the issue, said yes the sensor is in the AC and you can take the cover off and lower the sensor and inch or two. So at least I know what to expect and well try it out to see if I have the issue. My unit has Furrion for both the thermostat and the AC unit.

                      Cheers,
                      Joe

I actually use the leveling blocks vs wedges. Once on the top of the block, its done no other moving parts to worry about. I also built a set of blocks for the jacks. 3 2x4 across the top make width and length same. add 2 - 2x4 in cross cross pattern to bottom making height as needed.. front and rear jacks on the TT were about 1 level different so I had 5 blocks. 2, 2, and 1. 1 tall one for tongue jack, 2 mid height for front jacks (they were on the tongue and about 4" lower, and 2 mid height for the rear jacks.

I think "camera ready" means there is a mounting bracket for the furrion camera and power wires. not certain about video wires.

LOL. Well, we've been on enough charter sailboats where the tank water is basically undrinkable. So I'm going to splurge on the water filter :-) I'm sure inline is fine but this is one item where we're going to spend extra and take up as much room as needed :-)

BTW - the Clearsource RV system I'm looking at filters to 0.2-micron.

                          Cheers,

An excellent list. I also have an telescopic tree pruner in the rig that has come in handy in cases where a facility does not take care of hanging branches while they claim rigs larger than ours can fit on the site. Yes I know the rules but I do not charge to do their job for them.
