  • Popup Canopy Over Picnic Table

Looking for recommendations about purchasing/using pop-up canopy over picnic table. Considerations for ease of setup/take down, weight, price, size. Thx.

    We have this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Set/up takedown is quick and easy after a few times. It's on heavyish side, though.

I know that TucsonJim Jim speaks favourably about this one. Although, I do not (yet) have one of these.

I know it's not quite what you are asking for, but for us the cheapest and lightest solution is a large tarp and some ropes. However we will only do that if we are expecting long periods of rain. Otherwise if it's just a small amount, we drag the table under the awning.

We travel with an older First Up or Eeze up, not sure what they are called now. We have had it for years and is still in good condition. We only carry it when it may be wet as it is a little heavy and bulky. Most times we slide the table under the awning as mentioned above or just eat inside.

We used six of these when we held the Quartsite Arizona rally last winter. They held up very well in strong winds.

We started with an EZ-Up (similar design to the one TucsonJim likes.) It's purchase pre-dates the trailer purchase, so we continued to use. Very stable, you can purchase a screen enclosure to keep bugs out, and it should last a long time. The problem is it's heavy and fairly bulky to carry.

Then we switched to a Big Anges Sugarloaf Camp Shelter (doubles as our car camping shelter when we want to leave the trailer behind.) It's expensive ($500) but it's only15lbs and packs about a 1/3rd of the size of the Clam shelter or the Ez-Up. Since weight and storage size were paramount in our "little" 260RD 5th wheel, we'll likely stick with this.

I did see the Clam in action this weekend in a neighbor's campsite. It's probably the easiest of the 3 to set up and take down - but it's heavier than the Big Agnes and 3 times the size when packed.

All I can add to this is I got a Camping world one 15 years ago that had the netting that you staked to the ground. Was a pain to set up and take down. Still have it - not sure if I will use it. All I can suggest is be sure it is durable and easy to set up.

                  Just my thoughts

I know this is NOT what you wanted, but it's the first thing that came to mind when I read your Subject. I do not have one, just saw it yesterday when I was looking for a carport.
