    I wonder if it might be worthwhile to contact Swagman about it.

    I'm going to do that tomorrow. I'll post the results of my contact with Swagman (and/or eTrailer, where I bought the rack).

    Thanks for the info, Jim.

      howson Interesting. I watched 1/2 dozen videos about the assembly process. None of them had the reinforcement kit. And I can find no information about it on Swagman's website or a general internet search.

        I called Swagman Customer Service ( 1-800-469-7924 ) and spoke with Lisa, a very nice customer service rep. The company is in British Columbia so we spent more time talking about my recent visit and all the beautiful areas around Jasper than the bike rack.

        Anyway, the 64714 Reinforcement Kit is new and comes with the current E-Spec rack. The kit is compatible with earlier racks, but is currently not in stock as a separate item. Lisa took my contact information and will let me know when it comes in and the cost of the kit. I did mention it would be nice (since my rack is so new) if I could get it for free...which she didn't immediately dismiss but I'm not going to expect it.

        I'll follow up on this thread when Swagman sends me notification that the kit is in stock.

        For those considering this bike rack, my recommendation is to ensure with the retailer that you're getting a current E-Spec Bike Rack and that it has the Reinforcement Kit in the box.

          @Howard

          Good info. For others considering this rack. I purchased mine through Amazon and the shipper/supplier was the Swagman store. I ordered it on 3/2/2023, and the reinforcing bracket was included. If you order through another source, the inventory may be a little older and the kit may or may not be included.

          Note: I'm not endorsing this rack, but just a user.

            FlyStar - Thanks for the great idea about adding lights to the rack. I installed a 4-way connector and lights today.

              TucsonJim and/or FlyStar -- what specific lights did you order to mount on the rack and would you install them again or consider an alternative?

                Hi Howard howson . Here are the lights I ordered. Make sure you have enough room to mount them after adjusting your tire saddles. They work well for me. But Ginnie's bike has a very large distance between tires.

                  I solved the space issue by mounting my lights on a piece of aluminum angle rather than the rack itself. We occasionally take the grandkids with smaller bikes. Can barely tell how it’s mounted, but I got a square U-bolt and clamped it on the bar that has the S on the end in front of bar holding the wheel saddles. Completely out of the way. I also used a set of light pulsers like many motorcyclists use that strobes the brake lights quickly when first applied. I want people to notice when I’m slowing.

                        Jkwilson --

                        John , could I bother you to take a few closeups of exactly how those lights (and aluminum bars) are attached to the bike rack? I like the sleek look of your setup.

                            So I took the pictures before I fixed the wiring covers so I didn’t forget again!

                            The first is a close up taken from a spot between the rack and trailer showing how I connected the aluminum angle to the rack with a square u-bolt similar to https://www.acehardware.com/departme...E&gclsrc=aw.ds. I covered the u-bolt with heat shrink tubing to minimize rust. I used aluminum angle because I had an extra piece. If I’d purchased material for the mount, I’d probably have gone with square tubing to have a place to hide the wires. The angle functions just fine thoughClick image for larger version Name:	E2CBE897-DD4A-43FF-903F-9FF9F3D7146D.jpg Views:	0 Size:	67.7 KB ID:	112821

                            The second from the end of the light bar show how things fit together. Apologies for the odd lighting as the only light source back there are the trailer lights.
