  • Correct Wedge Plate

I have a 2012 Toyota Tundra towing a 2022 GD Reflection 260RD. My hitch is the B&W Patriot 16K and a Curt Turning Point pin box on the trailer. I am wanting to use my pin box in the rotation mode but I need the correct wedge. The wedge that comes with the Curt does not fit my hitch, it is way too sloppy. I have contacted Lippert (the manufacturer of Curt) and they say they make no other wedges other than what it ships with. B&W says they don't make ANY wedges. The Curt owners manual has a vague reference to using a SWW-07 wedge with the B&W but Google suggests the SWW-007 is custom made for the Reese hitch. It looks like it MIGHT fit my B&W hitch but there are no specs on the wedge measurements. Does anyone have any knowledge of the correct wedge I should try? Thanks, and have a great day!

I did the following Google search "Turning point wedge for B&W hitch"

    https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd-0001724.pdf says SWW-06

Etrailer evidently has recommendations give them a call (800) 298-1624. Their web page is currently down.

You say you have a Curt turning point which is new to me as its a Lippert trade mark, but have you looked in the owners manual that should be in you GD folder that came with the trailer. I would also give B&W another call as the answer you got is not like them. BTW is you Patriot a frame mount or goose neck mount. B&W does not recommend the wedge being used on a goose neck mount. They allow for frame and puck mounts. Its bee a while since I check that information.

    Hope this helps

We have a 260RD as well and our B&W came with the correct wedge to fit it? It was installed by a B&W hitch dealer though. I would try reaching out to your nearest B&W dealer and talk to them.

Thanks Yoda and Howard. I did get my hitch from my local dealer when we got the RV but they have been less than stellar in this whole purchase. I should probably just go back and talk with them again. And thanks Yoda for the link, I was looking a the wrong row in my manual, it is indeed the SWW-06. And my B&W is a frame mount.

Update, I have determined I need the SWW-06 wedge from Reese but they are back ordered with no estimate on restocking. No dealers seem to stock this and they drop ship instead. I seem to be out of luck for now unless I do a hitch replacement to match the wedge that comes with he Curt.

There might be another option to have a welder grind and face your existing wedge for a correct fit (IRV2) but at today's welding prices I would say just pay for a correct fit one. BTW pay close attention to the fitting instructions, From what I have read it need to be tight, but not too much to restricy the jaws locking correctly. Too oos and it causes head damage, so pay attention.
Otherwise you might get lucky searching the web https://www.google.com/search?client...=SWW-06+wedge+

Per this https://www.bwtrailerhitches.com/sit...nual%20web.pdf from the B&W site they do not recommend using a wedge with the Patriot. That could be why they are hard to find. Worth a second call to B&W to confirm. I'm am guessing it has something to do with the rail system rather than the hitch head' The wedge does put a lot of stress on the hitch head and frame that normally does not occur in traditional use.
