  • New 2023 Imagine 23BH - what WDH would you recommend?

    Hi everybody,
I am new here and as of today a happy owner of a 2023 Imagine 23BH and don't think this will be my last question about this rig. I used to have a 5th wheel some years back and am pretty new to TT towing. Kind of overwhelmed with all the options for WDH's.
I read a lot about Anderson, E-qualizer, Husky, Trunnion, round bars, ProPride, etc, and it hasn't been very helpful in terms of the decision to be made.
So far, I tend to the Anderson as it seems one of the best in terms of weight and smoothness. What I don't get: can I use a WDH that is rated for higher weight as well? The trailer has a GVWR at around 6900lbs, tongue weight should be between 500-800lbs (as per my dealership). Could I use a hitch that is rated for let's say 12,000 lbs? Is there any advantage of using a higher-rated hitch or does it have to be a hitch that is within the rate of the trailer?
    Towing with a 2020 Silverado 1500 3.0l Diesel.

    Thank you for any suggestions.

I believe the Anderson WD hitch are all rated up to 14000 lbs so you wouldn't have to worry about choosing

As far as getting something over what you need, I'm not sure about the "official" answer, but IMO you can go over but I wouldn't go too far over it may put undo stress on the frame of the trailer (and your truck). If it were my trailer I would get a 10K hitch.

I currently have an Equal-i-zer hitch and it works fantastic. However I do not like messing and storing the heavy bars. When I get some $$ I will switch to the Anderson Hitch.

I use a Husky Centerline for a Transcend with a similar weight as yours. Tows beautifully with my Titan Pro4X. Adjusted properly and the rig sits level and has no trouble. My bars are 600-800#. I also use Sumo Spring bumpers on the rear of the truck.

There are plenty of hitch options out there. One of the issues to consider is that the 1500 Silverado has a pretty soft set of rear springs and "P" rated tires which in my opinion makes the hitch adjustability important so you can get your ride height set properly.
I dont have any experience with the Andersen so I wont comment on that.
If money were no object I would buy the Propride.
I had 3 trailers that I used a Reese dual cam (or whatever they call it these days) I also had weight bars that were at least 200# heavier than the fully loaded pin weight on the different trailers.
I dont think I cleared anything up for you, just my $.02

I ran a Equalizer 4 point anti sway on my last bumper pull. Worked great! Is very similar to the Husky mentioned above.
