  • Which Hitch?

We purchased a used 2022 Silverado 3500 HD High County with 7200 miles on it last week and all I can say is WOW!!!! I have been living on this forum searching on hitches. Lots of valuable information. We’re pretty sure we’re going to by a new 337 RLS although I did find a very nice 2021 used 310 GK Solitude that I would like to see. I’m learning towards the B&W Companion slider hitch. Pullrite auto slider seems popular too.

      Welcome to the club.

If you have the puck system, use them vs the ball mount (you will thank me later). A bit harder to install, but much more secure to the truck with no chance of bending the bed or rotation of the hitch (yes it can happen).

For hitches, I have the Superglide, mainly b/c of backing into my driveway. I like the auto b/c there is no chance of it moving when I don't want it to. Downside, during certain turns you "break" the arch and it starts sliding which sometimes causes a slight jolt. https://pullrite.com/sites/default/f...s-manual_5.pdf pages 2 and 16 the cam slot. Usually happens on 2 lane to 2 lane turns.

BTW, you will love the truck for pulling.

        Hi Jay,

I recently upgraded from a Reese manual slider to the B&W Companion manual slider puck mounted hitch. I am very pleased with the B&W product. The slider mechanism is very smooth, easy to actuate and positively locked at either end, (Much better than the older Reese). One of the overlooked benefits of the manual slider is having generous access to the RV front compartment when hitched. Also hitching up at any angle with the tailgate open.

A “factory goose neck” package has to have the four pucks. Two of them are where the goose neck safety chains are attached.

I am happy with the B&W Companion puck mount in my Dodge (RVK3600), assume it would be a similar hitch for the Chevy. You probably don't have to use a slider, I don't. Rob mentioned one advantage of having it though.

I use the B&W Companion hitch in my2022 Ram 3500 but I don't have the slider. The companion lets you adjust the head back to give you more clearance. I have mine set back 5" from my gooseneck mount and so far have had no issues getting into anywhere that I want and still have had about 1-2" of clearance to the cab. Mine is mounted using the gooseneck.

Get the B&W. Also shop around. I got mine at Parts Hawk https://partshawk.com/ But call and ask for any special pricing or free shipping and sales tax information. There are some dealers willing to offer deals they are not allowed to advertise. B&W also has excellent customer service so if you have questions they them. I don't think Pullrite has the same and may not be US made.

I'm very new to 5th wheel towing and was/am still interested in room in the truck bed (F-250 6.5 bed). I have a roll-up tonneau and ran into a clearance problem with the B&W Turnover ball. At home, I have a very tight blindside turn backing up and had to remove it. Plenty of room with the tonneau removed and I'm thinking the 4" B&W offset will allow the clearance needed without taking the tonneau off.

We have PullRite Superglide for our 6’6” standard bed truck because of comfort level. Downside of this hitch is that it is heavy, so it adds to payload. Also, you have to be almost straight on to back into RV pin. Lastly, our PullRite hitch has a capture plate, so should our RV need to be towed, we’d most likely have to remove that plate. I would think that your truck bed is longer than mine, but not certain, so you may not need a PullRite. Don’t get me wrong, we are really happy with our hitch, especially when backing up and going (seldom) 90 degrees.

I'm pulling a Momentum 397TH with a 21 Silverado 3500 Dually long bed.... really wanted the B&W (due to the reputation) but because of covid supply hitches I went with the Pullrite 25K for use with the puck system. The Pullrite hitch has been great, absolutely no issues. It's quiet and easy to operate. I like the smaller profile than the B&W which allows me to carry 6 bikes on the tailgate with the hitch installed. Make sure you put on a teflon disc on your RV before your first tow - I made the mistake of towing without the plate - my hitch got scratched up bad and now the exposed metal has a lot of surface corossion.

I have the same truck sans the High Country part. I have the B&W Companion puck mounted non slider and love it. Comes out in two pieces so it's light enough for my old body to remove easily. I did not want a slider which would require a lift of some sort. The new Chevy standard beds are fine with a fixed hitch as GM moved the puck mounting points back on the 2020 and newer trucks. As mentioned above use the plastic lube plate in place of grease.
