I was going north on Turkey Foot Rd, turning right onto Elsam Fork Rd.
It's a narrow 1-lane bridge with barriers. When I came in I tought "damn that's tight" but I made it in the first shot without scratching anything. I'm tempted to thank my stubborness more than my driving skills.
The next day on my way out however I completely failed to get the trailer back onto the bridge. I went off the road nearly as far as I would dare to give myself a larger turn radius, and still it wasn't even close to fitting in there. It was obvious the trailer was going to hit the bridge's barrier. Thankfully I was able to get out in the other direction on Turkey Foot Rd.
I was always assuming that my rig has the same turning capabilities whether I'm turning left or right. Is it more complicated than that?
And if you care to share any other suggestions for getting out of tight spots: that would be great. With the kinds of roads I frequently go on: one day I'm going to be stuck next to a tree and wondering what to do next before calling in an army helicopter I recently got an opportuninty to practice my 32-point turns when I ended up in a dead-end parking lot
Have you ever been in a situation where you had to back up several kilometers/miles because turning simply wasn't an option? I'm sure I'll end up doing that one day.
