You'll find people pulling the Momentum 351M with all kinds of trucks - many are overloaded! If you want to stay within the payload rating of your truck, you will most likely need to get an F-350 DRW. The Momentum 351M at 16,800 GVWR is heavy. Depending on how you load the RV, your pin weight could exceed 4,000lbs. The payload rating of most F350 diesel SRW trucks is in the 3,500lb range. By the time you add your hitch, passengers and other misc items to your truck, you could have less than 3,000lbs of payload available.
Whatever you decide to do, good luck!Brian & Kellie

I'm known (not always favorably) for trying to nudge everyone up to an F450. Especially the 2020 if you can afford new... its diesel is even more powerful than it was in its last several years and it now comes with a ten-speed transmission with two overdrives, plus it retains several important advantages over the F350 (bigger brakes and smaller turning radius are two). Early reports are that it's a dream for towing big trailers, and it gets better fuel economy than previous models did. Someone on another forum has pointed out that the F450 will cost significantly more to license in some states, but if that's not a factor for you, buy it, the last truck you'll want.Mark - 2018 Solitude 310GK - Ford F-350 SRW diesel short box - Pullrite Superglide hitch

Irobsar73 welcome to the party! Very good advice given so far and I agree, you'll want a DRW truck for that trailer. boyscout is dead on with the F450 advice. I just went from a 2019 F350 DRW to a 2020 F450 to pull my Solitude 375, same GVWR as your 351. The difference is night and day with the new 450! More power more brakes better turning ability and the 4:30 gears and 10 speed are simply amazing together. Buy the right truck the first time and don't join the " 2 -3 time tow vehicle club" like some of us have lol. With the 450 you can comfortably pull any 5th trailer on the market no matter how it's loaded or what it weighs. Good luck with whatever you decide!Jeff

Originally posted by TriplethreatI'm probably a little late to the game, but I will say this. When I considered "what truck" I would need for any particular trailer, my minimum requirements are always to NEVER exceed ANY of the truck's weight or towing capacities. This includes GVWR, GCVWR, Payload, RAWR, FAWR, and Tire load capacity rating at the given PSI for the tire(s). Every single one of the manufacturers will ALWAYS state that NONE of those capacities should be exceeded. Far too often, people will look at just one or maybe two of the capacity ratings and simply ignore the others....and in my opinion, that is NOT the way it should work. When they say "NONE" of the capacities should ever be exceeded, that is what they mean, in other words we should not try to pick and choose which one is "OK" to exceed, because none of them should be exceeded. Having said all of that, almost every single time you will run out of Payload capacity BEFORE your exceed the rated "towing capacity"....when you are pulling a FIFTH WHEEL CAMPING TRAILER. And if you check your rating for any given truck, the manufacturer will tell you XXXX lbs of towing capacity....but they DO NOT tell you a particular type of trailer (5th wheel camping trailer vs. a flatbed utility trailer). Technically, they are correct and not stretching the truth on that rating, but they also don't tell you what I just did.......you will run out of payload capacity before getting to the towing capacity when pulling a 5th Wheel Camping trailer. Hope this helps

Triplethreat,
Thank you so much!! This mirrors my thoughts and many statements I’ve made on this subject. It really gets old reading all the excuses from those that bend the rules. Some will choose to do this and that is their prerogative but IMO folks should NEVER say it’s ok to exceed any of the limits posted in the door jamb of a truck.

Due to service failings I had too much time in the months after that to look around and watch at the dealer's service and sales lots and never ONCE saw them moving anything with a F350 SRW.
An RV salesperson should be assumed to NOT be an authority on safe and comfortable towing. (Apologies to those here who I believe probably ARE knowledgeable exceptions.)Mark - 2018 Solitude 310GK - Ford F-350 SRW diesel short box - Pullrite Superglide hitch
