Hi r1willie Welcome to the technical forum. There are quite a few really good hitches out there. But some of them are very heavy and may have a big impact on the payload capacity of your truck.

If possible, please take a photo of the placard on the driver's door column and post it here so we can work around your payload numbers. The sticker should look like this:

You can either post the picture, or just let us know the number specified for your truck.

Also, since it's an F150, I assume you're it's not equipped with a fifth wheel puck system?

I use the Curt Crosswing for my short bed Ram 3500. It gives you 5" offset for additional turning clearance if you use the rail version which I suspect you will need to use for the F150 since likely no gooseball connection. It is also under 100 lbs so it doesn't eat into your payload numbers by much. It is also Lippert approved so doesn't void your frame warranty.

To tow a 5th wheel trailer with a 5.5 box, you are going to need to use the “turning point” hitch (Which I assume your trailer came with). This takes a specific type of hitch that can accept a “locking wedge”. Pin weight is going to be a significant concern as are the passenger car tires that your truck came with.
