Does anyone have experience with the Pullrite Superlite in a short bed pickup? Also, does Grand Design approve of this type hitch?

    Double G,
Yes. I have had a pullrite for 7 years. I have a 2013, F250, short bed Ford Diesel.
No problems at all with my hitch.
It is heavy, so I use a electric hoist to lift and put it in the truck. I set it on a wood cart to move around in my garage.

As far as Approved by GD/Lippert, pullrite is approved.

Steve - Kristin and John are asking about the Superlite which only weighs 64 lbs. for the 2600 model and 84 lbs. for the 2400. Do you have one of these (which are not really that heavy) or a Superglide which I have as well @ about 200 lbs. ?

Kristin and John - I suspect your question about approval deals with the questions raised over the years with the Andersen hitches where manufacturers using LCI frames state that the frame warranty is or can be voided ? If this is the case, I have not heard this raised with the Pullrite Superlite but since the design concept is similar I suspect the same disclaimer applies. It has been shared over the years about the "insurance policy" that Andersen has......I do not know what Pullrite has if anything. You may want to contact Pullrite and GDRV Customer Service to talk about this and share your findings.

People confuse the PullRite SuperLite and Andersen Ultimate hitches with gooseneck adapters and thereby get into the weeds with Lippert frame warranties. While these hitches may use a ball for the connection (which drives a requirement for safety chains in some states) and connect to the truck via a gooseneck ball, they ARE NOT gooseneck hitch adapters. The forces they put on the pin box and frame of the RV are no different than the forces created by conventional fifth wheel hitches. (On the other hand, a true gooseneck adapter is a very bad idea for a fifth wheel RV.) So, no, the PullRite SuperLite will not void your Lippert frame warranty - and LCI would have to prove that the hitch was the cause of any frame issues, anyway.

That said, I have not had experience with the SuperLite, but I did tow a 14K fifth wheel over 12,000 miles with the Andersen Ultimate. The concept (same for both hitches) is a good one and the AUH worked very well for us. The only reason we switched to a conventional PullRite hitch is that we traded trucks (unplanned and sudden) and couldn't get the adapter for the Andersen for the new truck in time to stick to travel plans. If I were to go back to the SuperLite/AUH type of hitch again, I would probably go with the PullRite SuperLite as I feel it is sturdier and like the ball on the kingpin better than on the hitch.

Man, did I miss that one on "Superlite". I was thinking Superglide, which is what I have. Thanks for catching that.

Thanks for all the comments. As my signature says, I currently pull with a Pullrite 4400 Superglide which I really like but I am looking for something I can handle as I get older. I don’t always like having to line up the truck and trailer almost perfectly for the hitch to latch. I plan on traveling the west in the near future and want the ability to to get into tight spaces and with a SB truck I will also want to be able to turn tight.

            Thanks again.

John Double G - I do not recall anyone sharing feedback on this forum about experiences with the Superlite. If you have not done so, you may want to conduct an internet search. I do recall seeing posts from folks elsewhere towing with this hitch.

I share your concerns (mildly) regarding the Superglide weight and backing angle (no challenges so far after 7 seasons) in future years as I age. I too will be considering other options when we get our new truck and new GDRV fiver.

My apologies to OP John Double G for steering this off topic abit.

Nothing ordered yet, Rob.....plan to get truck this spring. Will wait on RV until industry gets back to "normal" production due to challenges with suppliers, team members, etc.
