My wife wants to look at a 2910BH now because of the door separating the bunkhouse for our boys. I am very comfortable towing trailers, especially with good/proper set weight distribution hitches, but this one might be pushing the limit.
My guess is that the difference between the 1340 on the hitch and the 900 on the door is the hitch being one size fits all and GM setting that limit at 10%of total tow rating. I have a Silverado and my tongue weight at exactly 10% of total tow rating. I personally treat the door frame sticker like the gospel. If I am ever in an incident, I expect that law enforcement, insurance adjusters, lawyers and juries are all going to look closely at those numbers.

      Guys,

The 900lb tongue weight listed on the door tag is absolute and without using a weight distribution hitch. So the limit when using a typical ball mount is 900lbs. The Weight Distribution limit will be listed on the hitch and in the owners manual which will be around 1340 as posted. Payload would need to be calculated while including these numbers.

Well put it this way, I'm towing the Imagine 21BHE with the baby Duramax 2.8L and I don't even know it's back there. You just can't beat Diesel's towing I don't care what the gassers say. 14mph, 5800lbs

There is no doubt that the diesels, in particular the "little duramax,s" get great fuel milage. Check FTL truck YouTube. However they have nothing on the eco boost when it comes to torque and hp. As well as the wife does not like the diesel aroma in the garage, lol.
flyfshrockies, 2021 imagine 2600RB, Ford F-150, XLT supper crew 3.5 eco boost with max tow. Dave and Toni (and the awesome Aussie Bayley, he's the social one)

I believe the subject of the post was Towing with the 3.0L Duramax Diesel. Since GM, Ford and FCA all make light duty diesel pickups you have obviously missed the point behind these trucks. Fuel economy and great towing capability.

Some tow with gas some with diesel. Its all a matter of preference. I've spent a great deal of time in a modified version of the 2.8L Duramax truck that was used in developing some future components. I had a great deal of fun in doing that. These small diesels do fill a gap to provide excellent fuel economy and great towing capability in the small to medium size rigs. I most likely will end up with the 3.0L Duramax to tow our Imagine 2600RB.
