    weigh 1.pdf weigh 3.pdf
I am posting my weigh slips from my setup. Any advice from the towing guru's would be appreciated. Weigh 1 includes truck, trailer and wdh hooked up. I need to add that there should be about 175 lbs. more in the truck. The wind was so strong i had to step out to hear the man on the speaker and he weighed it without me in it. Lol. Weigh 2 was with wdh unhooked and weigh three was the truck alone. I tow with a 1500 Silverado and here is the tow info. GVWR-7100, GCWR-16800, GAWR-4150, payload-2016, Tongue weight-1160, trailer tow ability-11600. Thanks for any feedback.

Good job getting it weighed. Plug your numbers into this calculator, results are at the bottom. Don’t forget to add the 175lbs.

PS - if you weigh again in the future you can download the WeighMyTruck app from CAT. Setup an account with CC info. When you weigh it will bill you then email your tickets. No need to go into building.

And I would suggest the CAT scale app "Weigh my truck". Won't have to worry about hearing the speaker.

Are you having any particular problem?

What I see from comparing the numbers, is that you are not transferring much weight back to the steer axle. Basically, the trailer is adding 880 lbs to the truck, and without weight distribution it's taking 380 lbs off of the steer axle. With Weight distribution engaged, the steer axle is only improving by 40 lbs. My WDH manufacturer (Equal-i-zer) says to transfer enough weight back to the steer axle to get at least 1/2 way back from the lowest (no trailer connected) and highest (trailer connected no weight distribution) measurements for the fenderwell height in a vertical line through the front axle.

So, about the only thing I can offer is to try some different adjustments of the WDH and see if you can get more weight back to the steer axle, and see if it improves the towing or not.

The fact that the Gross Combined Weights of #1 and #2 differ by 180 lbs leads me to believe you were in the truck for weigh number 2? Otherwise I think all the numbers look reasonable.

        I hope this is helpful.

Caveat: I'm no "guru". I have done a bit of this stuff over the years, but please remember I'm "Just an Owner" like yourself and not qualified in any way, shape or form outside of my personal experience.

If my calculations are correct, the only "concern" is the lack of weight put back on the front axle. I'd want the front axle weight closer to the baseline's 3080 lbs. This ensures good braking and headlight aiming.

Is there a procedure in your GMC owner's manual for determining if the WDH is correctly adjusted. My Ford has one, so if there is use it to verify the front axle height.

Remember that the tongue weight with the WDH applied is "felt", not actual. For % the amount in the No WDH line is what you use for tongue % (which is 14.6%, near the upper end of the recommended 10-15%).

I also suggest taking height measurements of the camper from the road to a set point at the front and rear of the camper to ensure when hooked up with WDH applied it is parallel to the road. (This may be a bit much for most, but I wanted it as right as possible. See https://gdrvowners.com/towing-and-hi...wing-a-315rlts if curious.)

P.S. I "added in" the missing 175 lbs by splitting it between the front and rear axles as a guestimate.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't had the time or had the trailer home with me to do all the proper measurements on the hitch install so trying to do it on the fly. I will do all this in the near future. I did crank up the wdh to put more weight on the steer axle and the truck is looking like it does before adding a trailer. I've been out on two trips with a crazy amount of wind both times so can't really see how it tows yet.

I word of caution when adjusting your hitch. Make sure to have the proper tools to torque all bolts including the hitch ball to the proper specs. Many owners have found bolts that were not properly torqued , this could become a bad situation in a hurry.
