  • Anderson ultimate hitch ball play

With my top ball that attaches to trailer there seems to be some play that probably transmits to some chucking in the truck. Has anyone use some brass shim stock to reduce the ball movement in the hitch?

Dennis66, Are you feeling "chucking"? Interesting. To save weight and the expense of buying a new truck to tow our new Sol, I switched from an autoslider hitch to the Pullrite 2600 lightweight hitch, and got about 300 pounds out of my bed. This is the same principle as your hitch, although the ball and cup are mounted opposite (ball attaches to kingpin; cup on the hitch in the bed). The entire thing attaches to my gooseneck ball at the bed floor of my truck (single point attachment). I thought I was experiencing chucking. I can feel the motion as soon as I start rolling out of my driveway. It does it uphill, downhill, smooth or rough road. Could not narrow in on an exact cause. My latest theory is that the hitch is "rocking" fore and aft on the gooseneck ball. Have checked the torque several times on the draw down bolt (all bolts I could get a wrench on for that matter). Called Pullrite, and they blamed GM for putting the bed floor reinforcements at odd locations (Ford and Ram not affected by this). So I think the base of my hitch is rocking to and fro from the motion of the truck. Changing back to standard rails, and installing the rail mounted version of this hitch (#2400) this weekend. We love the simplicity of hookups with this hitch, but the ride is uncomfortable and can't be good for either trailer or truck

Bottom line, if you haven't done so, recheck tightness of fasteners at the truck end. I have not been able to find anyone on the net complaining about chucking with either your or my hitch. I don't think a ball and socket design like these lends itself to chucking issues as does a traditional FW pin and jaw.

Anderson said I can add a brass shim or Teflon tape, love the hitch I just noticed the ball had a little play Im sure most are that way, not much chucking so Ill try the tape since I have some
